Come celebrate Independence Day in Palm Springs at the City’s much loved “All American Fourth of July” Fireworks Spectacular, Pool Party and Power Baseball festivities on Wednesday, July 4.

Residents can head over to Sunrise Park for a picnic and then to adjacent Palm Springs Stadium, 1901 E. Baristo Road, to watch the Palm Springs Power baseball team take on the Palm Springs Collegiate League All Stars at 6:05 pm. Gates open at 5 pm. FREE admission for the fireworks begins at 8 pm followed by the fireworks show at 9:15 pm sharp! Everyone is invited to bring blankets or lawn chairs and sit on the field.

To keep cool on July 4th, you can also head over to the pool at the Palm Springs Swim Center, 405 S. Pavilion Way and join a special 2 pm pool party, featuring music, games and a large inflatable slide. Enjoy the fireworks show while relaxing in the pool! Admission is $2 for children and $6 for adults. Due to the fireworks fallout zone, parking for the pool party will be located in the parking lot off Ramon Road.

The Palm Springs Fire Department would like to remind residents and visitors that all fireworks, including “Safe and Sane,” are illegal in Palm Springs. “Each year during the Fourth of July holiday, firefighters respond to fires and injuries that simply don’t need to occur,” says Fire Chief Kevin Nalder. “Fireworks in untrained hands are a terrible accident waiting to happen.”

Safe and Sane fireworks that are sold to the public only refer to fireworks that do not fly or explode such as sparklers, fountains, snake items and spinners, according to Nalder, who notes that parents are often unaware that the tip of a sparkler burns at temperatures exceeding 1,200 degrees and is capable of causing third degree burns.

“As a result, all fireworks found in Palm Springs will be confiscated and anyone possessing fireworks will receive a citation,” said Nalder.
