Dezart Performs hosts a special one-night-only screening of The Lavender Scare, the searing documentary by Emmy Award-Winning producer/director Josh Howard that chronicles the anti-gay purges of the 1950s, when President Dwight D. Eisenhower deemed homosexuals to be "security risks" and vowed to rid the federal government of all employees discovered to be gay or lesbian. The screening coincides with Dezart Performs production of PERFECT ARRANGEMENT.
The Lavender Scare is narrated by Glenn Close, and features the voices of T.R. Knight, Cynthia Nixon, Zachary Quinto and David Hyde-Pierce. The film is produced and directed by Josh Howard.
Tickets for the screening are $15 and will benefit the LGBTQ Center of the Desert and Cinema Diverse: The Palm Springs LGBTQ Film Festival. A panel discussion will follow the screening.
