A Workshop for All Queers: How has Homophobia and/or Transphobia Impacted Your Body?

Description

The LGBT Community Center of The Desert presents: A Workshop for All Queers:  How has Homophobia and/or Transphobia Impacted Your Body?

This workshop is for queer people - an introduction to how mind / body (somatic) work can be a resource for addressing the lingering effects of homo/transphobia and gender oppression. The workshop facilitator will introduce awareness practices, skills that build resilience and resources for grounding and presence in the body.

In the workshop, we will explore the question: "How has homophobia and/or transphobia impacted your body?”. With discussion (large group, small group and pairs) and experiential mind / body practices interspersed with relevant lecture.

About the Facilitator of this Workshop:

Constance Clare-Newman is a queer femme dyke who has been working in the field of somatics for over 18 years.  She has taught at many performing arts organizations as well as yoga centers, workplaces and in private practice. She has helped hundreds of people out of pain and into an easier, more effective and more pleasurable relationship with their bodies.

Cost:  $30 Members | $40 Non-Members.  [If you cannot afford the fee for this workshop, please contact the instructor directly by emailing constance@constanceclare.com]
