Acqua California Bistro is now open at The River in Rancho Mirage serving delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners and marking the return of the Keller family to the location they made popular with their original Acqua Pazza over 15 years ago.
The new Acqua has expanded along The River’s promenade on Highway 111, offering amazing views of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains from its lively bar, elegant dining rooms, patio, and waterfront terrace and now seats about 500 guests. The restaurant façade showcases the unique art of local artists Tony and Karen Barone called “Forks on Their Way to Nirvana”. Their gorgeous sculpture flows into a playful installation of colorful over-sized forks dancing across the building and is quickly becoming the latest Instagram-able attraction in the Coachella Valley.
“We’re simply thrilled to be returning to Rancho Mirage,” said Jerry Keller, creator of Acqua and Lulu California Bistro. “Time and again over the past three years, our loyal guests have been asking Barbara and me to return to Rancho Mirage, and the Keller family is so happy to be back with this new restaurant and an amazing menu.”
The new Acqua is lively, fun and festive and brings energy and excitement to The River, just as Lulu does in Palm Springs. From the upbeat decor to the meticulous choice of incredible dishes on the menu, everything at Acqua is designed to provide guests with an unforgettable dining experience in the new "hot spot" of the Coachella Valley.
Acqua and Lulu offer one of the largest menus of any restaurant in the Coachella Valley with delicious selections spanning breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch and dinner (and their now famous $19.99 three course, $29.99 and $39.99 four course dinners), and all day happy hour at the bar with its own deal-priced drink and dining menu.
The floorplan at Acqua features an open kitchen and pantry where guests can see the chefs at work. Windows from the bar and main dining areas overlook The River’s water feature with amazing mountain views and the new River Room has sliding glass doors that disappear into the wall and open the room to a sidewalk patio that offers misted outdoor seating. On very warm days and nights, indoor air-conditioned mountain and river view seating is available. The interior design is fresh, colorful and fun with seating options at comfortable tables or in plush booths in both dining rooms.
The new dining and events space at Acqua called the River Room features a flexible design that can accommodate groups, corporate events and special occasions from 20 to 200 in beautiful private areas or in the full room with magnificent mountain and river views.
But perhaps the most beautiful feature of Acqua is a family affair. Many areas of the restaurant house “Papa’s Walls” -- galleries of bright contemporary and modernist paintings by Barbara Keller’s 105 year old father, Marvin Cohn.
Acqua is the latest creation from the Keller family. Jerry and Barbara Keller are also the owners of Lulu California Bistro, a staple of downtown Palm Springs that is often credited for being an integral part of the revitalized energy along Palm Canyon Drive. Lulu has been honored with multiple annual “Best of” dining awards, including Open Table’s “Best Brunches in America”. Lulu celebrates its sixth anniversary in August.
There’s “always a party at Lulu” and now “we’re serving smiles at Acqua”.
Acqua is open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM, with later hours on weekends, and is located at The River in Rancho Mirage, at 71-800 Highway 111. Reservations can be made by calling 760-862-9800, or visiting Acqua’s website: acquaranchomirage.com.
