Enjoy Guilt-Free Shopping in the Desert's Best Thrift Stores

Thrift stores are amazing places. Not only are they great for finding bargains, they also help raise money for important local charities. And thanks to the desert’s huge population of wealthy retirees, the Greater Palm Springs area is overflowing with fabulous thrift and consignment stores offering a seemingly never-ending supply of vintage furniture, knickknacks, designer clothing, and collectibles.

But navigating the desert’s countless shops can be overwhelming, so here are some great places to begin.

Angel View Thrift Marts

Benefitting children and adults with disabilities, Angel View has 20 stores in Southern California, ranging from Desert Hot Springs to Lake Elsinore. The large Cathedral City location is shaped like a barn and overflowing with “gently used” big-ticket items, including outdoor furniture and appliances.

Desert Best Friends Closet

Unlike a certain national thrift store chain that openly supports discrimination of LGBT folks, Goodwill lives up to its name by stating very clearly in its values statement that it treats “everyone with respect, compassion, and inclusion, honoring their contributions and differences.” They are also a long-trusted source for donations, resulting in excellent inventories.
