Local Chapter of "Gay For Good" Launch Party at RetroRoom (Tonight!)


Brad FuhrOn Monday, Feb. 12, Gay Desert Guide founding editor Brad Fuhr will receive the City of Palm Springs Human Rights Commission Community Service Award for "Promoting Universal Human Rights Closer to Home". "I'm going to springboard that into a new community service group that is near and dear to my heart, 'Gay For Good'," says Mr. Fuhr in the invitation to an informational reception following the ceremony. The reception will be held at RetroRoom Lounge from about 4:30-6:30pm; attendees will enjoy appetizers provided by Oscar's Cafe & Bar and no host bar with happy hour prices.

On a day all about the heart, join Desert Regional for Affair of the Heart 2018, a free half-day event celebrating heart-healthy living featuring through everything from lectures to exercises–and even a cooking demonstration!

Highlights include light breakfast and healthy snacks, hands-only CPR demonstration, blood pressure screenings, heart-healthy cooking demonstration, drug interactions presentation and review, dieting presentation, heart disease and CHF presentation.

Erin Foley Out for LaughsErin Foley Headlines OUT for Laughs Comedy Benefit


One of the most sought-after women in comedy, Erin Foley (Comedy Central Presents: Erin Foley; host of the Mixology and a Movie podcast) will headline the third OUT for Laughs February benefit concert on Friday the 15th at the Palm Springs Cultural Center (formerly Camelot). This week's show raises money for the Joy Silver for California Senate 28th District campaign, hoping to turn a long-red and male seat blue and female in 2018.

Comedian and Impressionist Jimmy James will close out the series on February 22.

Modernism Week, the ultimate celebration of Midcentury Design, Art and Culture, starts Thursday February 15, and runs through the 25th. A lot of events are sold out, but a lot aren't, and some are even free! Check out what's on offer and we'll see you this weekend!
