If there's one thing everyone can agree on when it comes to Palm Springs, it’s this: It’s hot! And I don’t just mean the weather.
Palm Springs is home to a number of gay resorts where the action is hotter than the temperature. These places offer a variety of amenities and options for your enjoyment and ... pleasure. Most offer day and night passes, while some would rather you check in before getting off.
Regardless, have fun and play safe! Here is the definitive guide to our version of bathhouses:
All Worlds and INN Exile
526 S. Warm Sands Dr., Palm Springs
Day passes ($20) are available Monday–Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. They also offer nights passes ($25) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. Lockers are an additional $5.
Being a guest of All Worlds provides you access to INN Exile, for which no passes are available. Since the two resorts are now connected, you can stay at either and play at both, 24 hours a day.
Between them there is a dry sauna, plus community showers, 4 Jacuzzis, 7 pools, and free WiFi.
Maze at INN Exile (open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) features 10 different porn TVs, 4 slings, 25 glory holes, 15 different rooms, 3 rimming stations with troughs, single booths and gang booths, as well as 2 king-sized rubber-covered mattresses. That’s more than 3,000 square feet to play in!
68-300 Gay Resort Dr., Cathedral City
Southern California’s largest clothing-optional gay men’s resort, CCBC — which features large grounds on which to explore and hosts fetish weekends — offers many different pass options. Passes are good for 12 hours unless otherwise noted and offer in and out privileges (pun totally intended).
Thursday is singles night; $15 passes are good for 4 hours. Wednesday special is $18 and includes BBQ. Sundays are $15 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., which includes continental breakfast. Holidays and special events passes are $25. All other times, passes are $23. Lockers and towels are an additional $7. CCBC guests get full access to a pool, 2 Jacuzzis, steam room, dungeon, waterfall, sauna with video, and a military area. Not only is there plenty of party space (more than 3.5 acres), there are plenty of lube and condoms as well.
Helios: A Men’s Resort
Vista Grande Resort
574 Warm Sands Dr., Palm Springs
The Vista Grande does not offer passes for locals (they discontinued them about 4 years ago), but the resort is definitely worth a staycation (or an invitation from one of the current guests!). Plus, you can get married at the Waterfall at the Vista Grande Resort in your tux, casual, or nude – it’s your choice, and they have a minister!
Other amenities include 2 swimming pools, a 16-man spa, steam room, fire pit, 4 channels of adult videos that run continuously, free WiFi, continental breakfast, and poolside lunch. They also feature botanical garden style grounds and waterfalls. Fabulous!
You may be saying to yourself, This is great for you and me, but what do I do with my straight friends while I'm getting my groove on at these gay day spots? Of course, there are plenty of straight guys who come to Palm Springs, with or without their hot gay amigos. Here are some of the best watering holes and places for them to stay: the Saguaro, Riviera, and Ace hotels.
The Ace has an amazing pool area where, on the weekends especially, things get really fun. There are DJs, dancing, comedians, and even bingo night.
The Saguaro also has a big pool area where DJs spin, people dance, and you can enjoy poolside cocktails. The pool and both hot tubs are open from 8 a.m. to midnight, which leaves plenty of time for fun and sun. TIP: This place is really for the twenty-something crowd, so take heed.
The Riviera has been around a long time; it's glam! They have a great pool area, and at night there are fire pits, so you can enjoy a cocktail while sitting around the fire and taking in the terrific views.
Best News Ever: The Buzz stops at The Riviera, Ace and The Saguaro ... so you don’t have to drive to downtown for a night out!
